Alginate Dressing
Calcium alginate dressing that gels on contact with wound fluid; highly absorbent for moderately to heavily exuding wounds and for lightly packing cavities. Pressure injuries, leg/venous ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, surgical and cavity wounds with moderate-to-heavy exudate.
What it is: A calcium alginate dressing made from seaweed-derived fibres. On contact with wound fluid it forms a soft gel that holds exudate and maintains a moist wound-healing environment.
When it is used: Used on moderately to heavily exuding wounds and to lightly pack cavity or tunnelling wounds. It is not used on dry wounds or wounds with little exudate.
Who it is for: For pressure injuries, venous leg ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers and exuding surgical or cavity wounds, in long-term care, home care and clinical settings.
Border vs non-border: Alginate is non-adhesive, so it is covered with a secondary dressing (such as a foam or film) or secured with silicone tape.

Extra Silver Alginate Dressing
Higher silver-content alginate for critically colonized or infected, heavily exuding wounds needing sustained antimicrobial protection. Infected, heavily exuding chronic wounds; pressure injuries and leg ulcers at high infection risk.
What it is: A calcium alginate dressing with a higher silver content than the standard silver alginate, for stronger, longer antimicrobial cover while absorbing heavy exudate.
When it is used: Used on heavily exuding wounds that are critically colonized or clinically infected and need robust antimicrobial protection.
Who it is for: For chronic infected wounds — complex pressure injuries and leg ulcers at high infection risk.

Foam Dressing
Polyurethane foam dressing that absorbs moderate-to-high exudate while cushioning the wound and maintaining a moist healing environment. Pressure injuries, leg ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, donor and surgical sites with moderate-to-high exudate.

Medical Hydrogel Dressing

What it is: A water-rich hydrogel dressing that donates moisture to the wound to rehydrate dry, sloughy or necrotic tissue and support the body’s own (autolytic) debridement. It also cools and soothes.
When it is used: Used on dry, sloughy or necrotic wounds and minor burns — essentially the opposite of alginate, which is for wet wounds.

Silicone Foam Dressing
Absorbent foam with a soft-silicone wound-contact layer/border for atraumatic, pain-free removal; for exuding wounds and fragile peri-wound skin. Pressure injuries, skin tears, leg/foot ulcers and surgical wounds where gentle, repositionable adhesion matters.
What it is: An absorbent foam dressing with a soft-silicone wound-contact layer (and, on bordered versions, a soft-silicone adhesive border). The silicone lets the dressing adhere gently and be removed without trauma or pain.
When it is used: Used on low-to-high exuding wounds, and wherever the surrounding skin is fragile or removal pain is a concern.
Who it is for: For pressure injuries, skin tears, leg and foot ulcers and post-surgical wounds — especially in older adults and patients with fragile skin.
Border vs non-border: Bordered (with border): self-adhesive silicone border, an all-in-one dressing that stays put and is easy to apply. Non-bordered (without border): a silicone contact layer only, held with a secondary dressing or silicone tape — more conformable for joints, heels and awkward areas.

Silver Alginate Dressing
Calcium alginate combined with ionic silver for antimicrobial action while absorbing exudate; for infected or at-risk moderately-to-heavily exuding wounds. Critically colonized or infected exuding wounds, pressure injuries, leg ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers.
